GeoDict User Guide 2025

Mechanics GeoApps

GeoDict offers great automation possibilities to enhance productivity in the form of GeoApps. All steps done by the user in GeoDict are recorded in macros. The GeoApp dropdown menu in GeoDict gives access to several pre-defined macros for workflows that are often requested.

There are two possibilities to access the GeoApps for ElastoDict.

One way is to choose GeoApp Modules ElastoDict in the GeoDict main GUI. With this option, the ElastoDict section in the main GUI changes to GeoApp (ElastoDict). You can choose one of the two available GeoApps from the dropdown menu.

Another possibility is to choose a Mechanics GeoApps directly as one of the options in the ElastoDict section of the main GeoDict GUI.

When Mechanics GeoApps is chosen in the module section, two representative calculations are available – Contact Detachment and Stiffness Estimation.

Choosing one of them allows the user to start a simulation much easier since only specific parameters need to be set. By clicking on Edit… a parameter dialog opens, which contains all relevant parameters and solver settings for each simulation in a simplified and straightforward way.

For more information on GeoApps in general, refer to the GeoApps User Guide.

Topics of this section

  • Contact Detachment
With this GeoApp, it is possible to simulate detachment of contacts between objects in ElastoDict-Deformations simulations.
  • Stiffness Estimation
This GeoApp estimates the stiffness for one constituent material, if the stiffness of the complete structure is known.
