Compute Fractal Dimension
The Compute Fractal Dimension GeoApp calculates the fractal dimension of the solid materials or the pore space of a loaded geometry. It mathematically describes the complexity of the current structure by analyzing its change in detail in respect to a change of scale. The used method is the box-counting algorithm. The fractal dimension is another measure for microstructures and is used, e.g., to characterize carbon particle agglomerates.
Modules needed to run this GeoApp: PoroDict |
Click Edit to open the Compute Fractal Dimension parameter dialog.

Select a Result File Name and decide if the fractal dimension should be computed for the pore space or for the solid materials by checking or unchecking Compute for Pore-Space, respectively.
The result file’s Result Viewer opens when the Compute Fractal Dimension app finishes.
The result file shows the fractal dimension and the fractal pre-factor described by Wang et al. (2022).
In the plots tab find the fractal dimension visualized in a 2D plot.
