GeoDict User Guide 2025

Convert GMC to Python Macro

GeoDict also ships with a compiler that can convert your old GMC macros to Python macros.

Note-Important

Important! GeoDict 2025 does not effectively support macro syntax older than GeoDict 2020. Errors may occur, when running macros with older syntax or loading parameter settings from them.

Select Macro Convert GMC to Python Macro in the menu bar. Click Browse… in the dialog box to select the *gmc macro to be converted and click OK. The new Python macro can be found in the same folder as the GMC macro.

If the GMC macro has syntax older than GeoDict 2020, a warning message appears. You can still click OK and try if the macro runs through. If this is not the case, you can either record the commands again or if you have a license for an older GeoDict version (GeoDict 2020 or GeoDict 2021) you can convert the GMC macro to GeoDict 2020 or GeoDict 2021 syntax and then convert it to Python.
