Pile Analytic Spheres
Using Pile Analytic Spheres from the GrainGeo section, analytical spheres are piled in Z-direction.
As explained for the packing process, a Result File Name (*.gdr) must be entered to save the results of every piling process. This Result File Name is applied to both the results file (*.gdr), and to the results folder (and the files in it) that are placed inside the chosen project folder.
The available units (m, mm, and µm) are selectable from the pull-down menu.
The parameters for the piling are organized in the Pile Options and Sphere Distribution tabs.
Many of the Options to pile analytic spheres are similar to the options shown for Pack Analytic Spheres to pack analytic spheres. The options under the Material and Analysis panels and the Sphere Distribution tab are identical, except, that for pile analytic spheres, there is no option to apply gravity, because the piling process already applies gravity.
The results are also similar to those from sphere packing.
In the following the Domain and Piling panels are described, which are different or not available for the sphere packing.
