Tracer Solver

Under the Tracer Solver tab, options regarding the tracers used for tracking the solute concentration are available.

Tracer Particles

The Tracer per inflow voxel parameter defines how many particles are used to track the solution concentration. The number given is multiplied with the number of pore and porous voxels at the inflow boundary. This parameter controls the precision of the adsorption simulation. A higher number of tracers increases precision. However, runtime also increases. The concentration of the adsorbing solute is not changed by this parameter, it is only distributed more finely/coarsely in the fluid.

Note-Info

Note! We recommended to use at least the default value of 5 tracers per inflow voxel.

Random Seed

Define the Random Seed that is used for defining the initial particle positions. The same random seed produces identical results, whereas results with different random seeds are similar but not identical.

Calculate Concentration Field

Check Calculate Concentration Field to compute a concentration field based on the tracer particle cloud. This concentration field is only created during the post-processing and is not used during the simulation. It is similar to the resulting concentration field from the field solver and can be used as input to prescribed an initial concentration.
