The alternative Reassign Material of Material ID corresponds to the option available in the Select Constituent Materials dialog. As shown in this example, the material is changed for one selected Material ID (here: Carbon Fiber to Glass for Material ID 01).

This command is especially helpful, if several Material IDs have the same material, but the material should only be changed for a certain Material ID.
