LamiGeo (Create Laminates)

The LamiGeo app generates a laminate structure.

Note-Important

Modules needed to run this GeoApp:

FiberGeo

Parameters

Clicking Edit opens the LamiGeo Parameters dialog.

Enter a Result File Name for the generated result file (*.gdr) and the corresponding result folder.

Define Voxel Length and the Domain Width / Length in X- and Y-direction.

In the Materials panel select the Matrix Material and the Fiber Material from the GeoDict material database.

Below, in the Fibers panel, define the parameters for the generated circular fibers:

  • Define Diameter of the fibers in µm.
  • Select a Solid Volume Percentage to define the fibers volume percentage for each layer.
  • Enter the fiber Waviness as angle around the fiber orientation direction, where positive values lead to slightly curved fibers.
  • Choose, if the overlap should be removed (No Fiber Overlap) or not.
  • Set an Isolation Distance, in case the overlap is removed.

In the Layers panel enter the desired Layer Height for each layer and how much Layer Coating should be generated around the fibers in Z-direction. In the table, enter the Fiber Angle in Layer. Entering a value in the last row adds another row below, while deleting an entry, deletes the row. The generated structure will have as many layers as values are entered in this table.

Clicking on OK closes the dialog and clicking on Run creates the plastic structure.

When the structure generation is finished, the Result Viewer of the result file (*.gdr) opens automatically.

Results

The Results - Report tab displays a short report about the resulting structure. Note, that the total fiber volume is lower than the given Solid Volume Percentage because of the added layers of coating material.
