Mean Filter

The Mean Filter can be applied to the 3D image to remove noise or to smooth the image.

Sphere Radius defines the size of the spherical neighborhood used for filtering the 3D image. The radius is specified in voxels and determines how many neighboring voxels are included in the filtering operation. Larger radii produce stronger smoothing effects but may reduce fine structural details. After setting the desired radius, click Apply to execute the filter.

Please refer to the Median Filter page for an example. Similar results to the example shown there can also be achieved using the Mean Filter using the same sphere radius value.
