Image Filters

The Image Filters tree contains the tools to improve image quality.

Preview

Applying image enhancement filters to complete 3D image data can be very time-consuming. To avoid long processing times, Preview the effect of the filter parameters before applying them to the entire dataset. Click Preview to open the Parameter Gallery dialog, which shows the effect of the entered filter parameters on the image. The Preview is available for these filters: Non-Local Means, Median, Mean, Gauss, Sharpen, Morphological, and H-Minima Transform.

On the left side of the dialog, you can adjust the Gray Value Range, Threshold Visibility, Threshold. You can also adjust the viewing parameters, such as the View Direction, Zoom Factor, and the selected Slice, as well as the Range of the window on this slice to which the filter is applied.

Click Create / Update Preview to generate a set of images that can be used to identify the desired filter effect.

Depending on the filter, different preview Parameters can be set.

For the Median Filter, the Mean Filter, and the Morphological Filter, a range of Radii (here 1 to 3 voxels) can be chosen.

For the Gauss Filter, Sharpen Filter, and the Non-Local Means Filter, one parameter can be chosen as Varying Parameter, while a fixed values are entered for all other parameters. For example, in the Non-Local Means Filter, the Patch Radius can be set to be the Varying Parameter, while the Window Radius, the Strength, and Prefilter have fixed values.

Simply click on the desired image on the right to select the optimal parameter combination. After you close the dialog, these parameters will be transferred automatically to the corresponding filter's parameter fields.
