Median Filter
The Median Filter can be applied to the 3D image to remove noise or to smooth the image.
Sphere Radius defines the size of the spherical neighborhood used for filtering the 3D image. The radius is specified in voxels and determines how many neighboring voxels are included in the filtering operation. Larger radii produce stronger smoothing effects but may reduce fine structural details. After setting the desired radius, click Apply to execute the filter.
Notice the cleansing effect of applying the Median Filter after setting the Sphere Radius in the original image to one and then three voxels. The first row shows the filtered gray values images. The second and third rows correspond to 2D and 3D Rendering views of the structure model imported after each processing.
