GeoDict User Guide 2025

MatDict

MatDict is the GeoDict module for analyzing the solid phase of three-dimensional porous-media structures obtained either from tomography images or from digitally (with the GeoDict structure generators) generated models. While PoroDict focuses on the characterization of the pore space, MatDict is dedicated to the analysis of the material structure itself.

The module provides a wide range of tools for computing statistical and geometrical properties of the solid material. In addition, MatDict includes specialized analysis methods for analytic data and offers access to individual algorithms for advanced structure characterization.

Below, the results of some MatDict commands applied to the same grain structure are visualized.

New in GeoDict 2026

  • New command Lineal Path Length Distribution to determine the probability that a straight line segment consists of only one Material ID dependig on the length of the line.
  • Additional options are available for the 2-Point correlation command and the resulting plots have been revised.
