Euclidean Distance Transform

For a given material in a structure, a distance transform algorithm computes the distance to the boundary of the material for every point (voxel) in the structure. This is useful when characterizing the structure’s pore morphology.

In GeoDict, the algorithm presented by Saito et. al. (1994) is implemented.

After selecting Euclidean Distance Transform (EDT) from the pull-down menu, the settings for the calculations can be modified through the Edit… button.

The Euclidean Distance Transform (EDT) was computed for the pore space and is visualized there.

The Euclidean Distance Transform command:

  • Options
Set the parameters for the analysis.
  • Results
    View the computed results.
